    ## Advisor Style & Mentorship
Although conferred with the prestigious Magnolia Award in Shanghai, the people do not know what goes on inside the factory he runs! **Absolutely unfit to guide observational astronomers or computational modeling students**. The PI is a dictatorial boss, not a compassionate leader. Does not mentor directly but depends on other people for everything other than theoretical physics (which has been a decresing minority in his research interests since the beginning of the last decade). Takes no interest in learning to do where the majority of his funding comes from. Does not care much about emotional support for his students. Practices preferential discrimination in the group and does not refrain from mockery or humiliation. Does not even think to volunteer to nurture students in the art of scientific writing and proposals.

    ## Expectations for PhD Students
Very narcissistic and shrewd. Takes numerical modeling and observational students only to feed into his tally of co-authored papers, 99% of which are done by the students and postdocs combined. He **only wants to become the corresponding author** in all of them, despite doing practically nothing in observations. This has to do largely with obtaining funding for further research. He wants quantity from his students. Less creativity and critical thinking... more papers and citations.

    ## Funding & Support
Can lie to satisfy his needs to support only students who adhere to his practices and ways. **Free thinkers are shunned and gaslighted**.

    ## Research
He is the corresponding author in all of his co-authored papers that come out from the group. No promotion for his students in that respect. The gluttony of a lion's share! This is never mandatory in science, but he convinces the students that it is a requirement and there is no need of students in his group if he cannot be the credit-taker for the work done by them! **Rarely _(as rare as the Haley's comet visiting the vicinity of Earth)_ any student in his group has ever written even the full first draft of their own first-authored paper. It is either written wholly by this PI or by multiple individuals**. Research is also about learning to practice scientific writing. This PI does not believe in that work ethic.

    ## Lab Culture
It is one step short of corporate slavery! He would not survive in Europe with that mentality. The boss **wants the job done in a set time, has no idea on how to actively support in-house, breeds papers and unintelligent observers right from the Bachelors category up to Ph.D.** Does not like to be questioned on precarious, conventional methods or ethics. Does not pay attention to the students in the lab as a whole, but drops in like a Senior Manager on scheduled meetings to talk about progress. _Discrimination on assigning work and providing support an internal chaos, which the world does not get to see_. Even if reported, many peers prefer to ignore. Bullies if told there is seemingly something not quite right in his ways.

No, I don't recommend this PI.
